Composing Through the Leaves
21st Century
Coming down the blue mountain in the evening,
Moonlit clouds were my homeward escort.
Looking back, I rethought my lonely path
Now lying there in levels of deep shadow....
I was passing the thoughts of friends long gone
Thoughts that led me twining through ancient forests
Where mighty thorns caught and held my memory
And I was glad of a chance to rest, engulfed
And glad of a chance to cheer with my friends
I sang to the tune of the wind, composing through the leaves
And finished new songs as the stars finally went down,
Between the wind and stars we could finally forget the world
